Solihull Sands have supplied Heartlands Hospital with moses baskets of various sizes.  This has helped parents to spend more time with their babies whilst on Eden Suite.

We have also funded a number of new Sands training sessions for health professionals at the Heart of England Trust.  These sessions provide bereavement training to professionals, some of whom have previously had little or no formal training in how to handle a stillbirth or neonatal death.  Solihull Sands Befrienders have shared their own personal stories at these training sessions which have had a big impact on delegates which have included midwives, neonatal nurses, doctors and funeral directors.  Feedback has been extremely positive and Solihull Sands intends to continue funding these training sessions to reach as many health professionals as possible.

Solihull Sands has also funded befriender bags which are given to newly bereaved families as they leave hospital.  This contains a variety of items to help families create memories and contains a wealth of information regarding how to seek support.

In addition to this Solihull Sands has provided welcome packs to hospitals which contain a number of toiletry items to families who are admitted to hospital unexpectedly and therefore have no toiletries with them.
